Transactional big law --> gov't exit options

Post by lonerider » Wed Jan 28, 2015 2:02 pm

3L here with a 1L mentor. 1L is interested in transactional practice, but sees herself working in government after big law. But she doesn't know if this happens or is possible.

Is this common? In what practice areas? I've heard the conventional wisdom that lit exits to government, transactions exits to in-house private companies, but I don't know more than that.

She also has some misconceptions about big law lit... Any resource out there that explains what a typical junior lit attorney does?
