2.5 months between bar and starting: what to do?
What are the options for this period of time?
This is what I'm considering:
-contact firm and ask to start early
-try to find a parttime legal job elsewhere (doc review or similar)
-LSAT tutor?
-non-legal job (dog walker, proofreader, service industry job)
Any stories/suggestions would be very welcome. I will be starting big law in NYC.

0L... Is traveling not an option? This seems like a great opportunity to take some time to yourself before starting your BigLaw gig.

Sure, traveling is an option. But my wife will be working and on her salary alone we will not be able to keep up to date on bills.

If you want to work and vacation is out, I'd ask your firm to start early before looking for other work.

One of my questions is will a big law firm allow you to worn for another firm? I'm worried it might create a conflict issue.

It's not just the $ it's also that I don't want to do nothing for that long. I can see taking the first 2-3 weeks of august off to recover from the bar but that's enough.

You'll have to ask your firm. My firm would not let us work for other law firms before starting because of conflicts. All other legal employment was on a case-by-case basis.Hutz_and_Goodman wrote:One of my questions is will a big law firm allow you to worn for another firm?
