Best alternative to working biglaw during 2L summer Forum

Struck out of biglaw

What's the next best thing? (Clerking is out)
In-house? Mid-law? Gov.?

Also how likely is it to get biglaw at 3L OCI (median at a T14) with those above options? Searching here, it seems like two years ago, going in-house 2L -> biglaw was not likely. Is it still like that?
What's the consensus now?

Next best would be either a midlaw firm that hires most of their summers or one of the very few government agencies that hires their summers. The key is anything that will give you a post-grad job. Below that, it's kind of interchangeable and not a good outcome but probably a well-known in-house position or well-known federal agency.

I know 3 people at my t20 who got big law at V5, V5, V10 during 3L oci. All three had multiple offers.

1 went overseas to "big law" in asia (they dont hire their summers over there, and pay significantly less), 2 were in gov (doj and ftc). I think the one thing they had in common was murdering their 2L classes.

Also, 1 of the 3 was transfer student from some school i never heard of.
