It sounds like you've already let the DA's office know you want to take another job, so the die might already be cast.

What kind of firm are we talking about?

I would advise you to take the better job, whichever that is. At the end of the day the DA's office and the firm both wouldn't hesitate to rescind THEIR offer if it was in their interest to do so. You have to look out for yourself.

If there's a chance the firm will hire you, and you said there is, and you want to work at a firm post grad, don't hesitate to rescind your acceptance with the DA's office. Do what's best for you.

Definitely rescind. The damage you will do to the DAs office by bailing is little to none. The damage you do to yourself by turning down potential employment with a job you like is great.

I didn't realize that rescinding an offer was even an option. Won't you jeopardize BAR admission by doing this (i.e. wont this be a cf issue)?

I ddon't know but my school is really serious about never rescinding acceptances, critique them it's a serious ethics violation, which is kind of shitty because in this economy students really need to be more flexible. I'm in the situation right now as a 3l looking for spring externships. Some places have already interviewed me well some really really attractive places only start interviewing later in the semester or even in January. It's really horrible.

Double check with your career center before you do anything. At my school there are academic ramifications if you rescind offers from judges. You need to find out if there's any penalties from your school.

Thanks for the advise. I'm waiting to hear back from CSO.

No, it's not a C&F issue.

And fuck CSO, they are only looking out for the school's interests. If there aren't any academic violations written in black and white, then ignore their advice entirely.
