3L did an OCI interview with a small firm (40-50 attorneys) and really really like the firm. Received a call from the woman I interviewed with inviting me to come back and meet with more people. However, the man who schedules the call backs was out of the office the past 2 weeks and is returning this week (so tomorrow). I was told he would be contacting me this week to schedule something.
Problem is, I have a very promising clerkship interview this week, and if I do get an offer, would likely get it within a few days. I would prefer the firm job. I am worried because the timing is getting so tight. I also know the firm called back at least 3 other people.
Question is, should I email the man who does the scheduling and tell him that I'm really interested in the firm, and would like to come in ASAP because of the clerkship interview? Or is this totally unacceptable?

Wait until you have the clerkship offer to worry about this. It will do you no good to try and move up your callback just because you have another interview. If you do get the clerkship offer you might be able to use that for leverage with the firm.Anonymous User wrote:3L did an OCI interview with a small firm (40-50 attorneys) and really really like the firm. Re: Help! Call back and clerkship
I was under the impression that if I got the clerkship offer, I basically had to accept on the spot? (Obviously no one can make me do anything, but if the firm is a no, I want the clerkship. So I thought if I want it, I have to accept it right away?)minnbills wrote:Wait until you have the clerkship offer to worry about this. Yes, that's true.Anonymous User wrote: I was under the impression that if I got the clerkship offer, I basically had to accept on the spot? (Obviously no one can make me do anything, but if the firm is a no, I want the clerkship. So I thought if I want it, I have to accept it right away?)
The firm is not going to speed up just because you have an interview with a Judge, though.

But most judges don't make exploding offers anymore. You'll be fine.Anonymous User wrote:
