Out of places to mass mail

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Sep 25, 2014 9:12 pm

Where do I mass mail?

I searched on Nalp and mass mailed the tri-state area. The thing is, when searching CT or even DE, only a handful of firms pop up. Am I searching incorrectly? Where can I get a list of more firms to mail?

Thanks in advance for replies

Have you considered places other than the tri state area? Now isn't the time to get picky.

Yeah. Well I mailed some places in the south... got no responses. I'm guessing it's because of my lack of ties.
Any other secondaries that are a less concerned about ties? I guess philly is one but I would think Penn students already filled their spots

You have nothing to lose. Spend 3-5 days mass mailing firms in every state. Some states will have 10-20 firms, and some will have 100. Roughly even out to ~500 by the end of the process. At ~500 at least you can sleep at night knowing did everything you could.

If it doesn't work out, then run through the F500 list for in-house jobs and network your ass-off with the company's outside counsels.

Philly is very ties sensitive, such that most Penn kids don't have much of a shot there, firms hire way more from (the top of the class at) Drexel/Temple/Nova. If you interview here, tbh I would absolutely not say you are from New York. The best success I had (offer) interviewing with Philly firms was when, in my callback, I trashed NY in every single interview. Trust me, the will agree with you.

Good website to find smaller firms in your home markets:

Small firms will probably still be hiring summer clerks well into the Spring

Try wiki-ing the largest firms in the US. After you get the names, use NALP to get the name of the hiring coordinator/attorney and the office address
