DPW/S&C NY vs. GDC/Weil Dallas
I've seen threads like big 3 in TX vs V5 in NY, but I was wondering what you guys thought of V5 NY vs V20 regional? I want to do M&A work, but am from TX and want to settle down there. I understand why taking a local TX firm might make sense in that case, but how about a strong regional office of a national firm?

I chose V&E Houston over NY V5s. If I were from Dallas, I would've made a similar decision but probably taken GDC (or maybe V&E/BB). Decide whether you want to live in NY or TX, and the choice becomes pretty easy after that.

Yea, do you want to live in texas or NY? Gibson for Dallas, Davis for NY. If you go to Davis Polk or S&C or Cravath you'll almost certainly be able to lateral out to TX, but you'll have to live in NY for several years.. what's the point if you know you want to settle in Texas? You have incredible TX options right now. I only see the value of davis now if a) you might change your mind about staying in NY or b) you have another third market you might want to lateral too, in which case Davis/S&C/ect provides more flexibility
