Considering an offer from Chapman and Cutler in Chicago. In speaking with them, some of attorneys said a lot of work they are doing (in Corp. Fin. Practice) was around the same realm of work that DLA, Kirkland, and other large Chicago firms are doing. I was wondering what people's thoughts were on Chapman's quality of work comparable to other firms. Also, what are the exit/lateral options looking like for Chapman?
I understand the larger firms are doing a lot of work that is well above Chapman's level, but if they do a decent amount of work that Chapman is doing that would speak well for lateral opps right?
I am not looking to move to NY, so don't care as much about the work comparison between Chapman and NY firms, more so just how they do in relation to larger Chicago firms. Thank you!

Re: Chapman and Cutler (Work and Lateral opportunities)
There have been a few posts about Chapman and Cutler on here recently that you should look through. Chapman does a lot of bond work, that is what they're known for, which is not something that lends itself to going in-house at companies or making a lateral move to a larger firm. I know a couple attorneys at Chapman that like it and a couple that really didn't like it. Basically your normal firm. They do not have the same reputation in the city as the firms you listed off. Your exit options probably won't be similar. If you take it, take it with the intent on making a career there or moving to a small firm after a few years.
