2nd Yr in 2ndary Market - 10 in TTT, how to lateral?
I graduated in the top 10% of a TTT. I have a couple years of experience in mid-size defense firms, but have a lot of good quality experience. I can go into detail if necessary. How can I best position myself to lateral to biglaw? Is it possible or a lost cause? Had a CB interview with a biglaw firm, but no offer as of yet. I guess that means I have sorta a chance?

Also a 2nd year associate in a secondary market. At this point, believe it or not, but your law school grades and school still matters a lot. Your top 10% looks great but your TTT school might hurt your chances. Also, from what I've heard, corporate is pretty hot right now but I heard that litigation is steady to slow.
Is your TTT in the market you are trying to go to? If so, it should help a little bit.

Re: 2nd Yr in 2ndary Market - 10 in TTT, how to lateral?
Yes, the TTT is in my market. My state only has a handful of 100+ person firms, maybe 4-5 if I had to guess. All of them hire from my TTT. However, the younger associates at those firms from my school are usually top 5%, but they are hired from OCI. I am not sure if the distinction ( 5 v. 10) makes a huge difference as a lateral. Any thoughts?Anonymous User wrote:Also a 2nd year associate in a secondary market. At this point, believe it or not, but your law school grades and school still matters a lot. The fact I got a CB (that went extremely well) from one of those firms tells me I have a chance. Still waiting to hear back and feel it is a likely a ding at this point. If I lost out, it must have been merit, as a I said the CB went extremely well. Probably answering my own questions here...
