Name firm you have offer from when mass mailing others?
I've got an offer from a firm in a secondary market. There's only one other firm in that city that I'd pick over my current offer, but I haven't even done a screener with them. I'm going t mass mail them on Monday. Should I name the firm I have wan offer from in the cover letter? The firms are on the same level, and I know they like to compete with each other and stuff.
Seeing if I can't turn one offer into two here...

OP here.
Good thing I make these threads. Not the first time an idea I thought was solid but wanted to double check turned out to be really dumb. I think I'll do really well in this profession, derping my way through.
Is mentioning that you have an offer generally also a bad idea? I could have sworn I read that having an offer in hand was a selling point for subsequent firms. I guess it's something you only bring up if asked?

I would just straight call recruiting and tell them exactly that.

I am not a firm guru, so I hope others will correct me, but I think it's more that if you've already applied to a firm (or even more so, already interviewed) and want to update/express continued interest/nudge them into giving you a CB/offer, saying you have an offer elsewhere but would still very much like to be considered at their firm of much greater awesomeness is something you could do. If you haven't even applied yet, it seems a bit weird to mention another offer the first time they ever hear from you.Anonymous User wrote:OP here.
