Hi everyone,
I'm so far 0/4 at callback and went 5/22 at my school's OCI. Grades and school are definitely not my issue--interviewing is, and I don't know what I need to fix.
Has anyone had experience with being terrible at interviewing and then having a lightbulb moment where you became great at it? Besides doing mock interviews, does anyone have any sort of advice on how to improve? I've started mass mailing and have received a few callbacks so far through doing so.

I'm not a good interviewer and I don't think any lightbulbs came on. But I did get better IMO, and that was a result of a) Practice (both real interviews and mock interviews) and B) Recording myself giving answers during mock interviews and listening to what I said and crafting better answers, getting rid of annoying vocal tics, etc. Its an easy thing to do, just record yourself with your phone and listen to yourself when you're driving or whatever.

I would stay away from canned/crafted answers. I just focused on demonstrating to them that I did research by making sure I had a good answer about why XFIRM instead of some generic bullshit about the culture and training programs. I also focused on just showing a ton of enthusiasm about the firm.
If it is your number one choice, I highly recommend telling that to one of the partners and the recruiting person you meet with after the interviews. Anecdotal, but I did it along with 2-3 of my friends and we all got offers at the firm we used that line with. I straight up said something along the lines of "Look I am going to be frank with you, I have had several callbacks at other great firms and while I would be fine at any of them, this is my number one choice and I am prepared to accept an offer immediately if given the opportunity to do so." Only do it if it is actually your number one choice.
