Do judicial clerkships, law clerk positions, law school clinic, and/or unpaid internships count as experience when applying to Attorney positions?

For instance, most job postings say something like "must have 1 to 3 years of experience." Am I wasting my time applying to a positions that requires at least 1 year of experience if I have 2-3 year of experience in the above mentioned roles, but none in an Attorney role?

i'm going to guess that some of those activities are going to be more credited than others, but you know that. you should just be ready to justify your experience if asked: that's all you control.

You are not wasting your time applying for a position that calls for 1 or 2 years of experience, imo. However, generally they do mean attorney experience, but it is not an absolute role. The position I am currently in wanted an attorney with 2-3 years experience, and I applied after only have been practicing for six months. You just never know, they may be flexible. I personally start to steer clear with it is 5 years +, you know they dont want a newbee at all, but sometimes I would use that opportunity to just send that firm an email about wanting to be considered in the future.
