Coffee with parter at her office tomorrow.
I'm meeting a partner for coffee tomorrow at the firm's office. What exactly is this (some kind of interview?) and what do I wear? Suit?
Thanks!
Thanks!

What did you email her and describe it as? Getting coffee? Wear a suit.Anonymous User wrote:I'm meeting a partner for coffee tomorrow at the firm's office. What exactly is this (some kind of interview?) and what do I wear? Suit?

Re: Coffee with parter at her office tomorrow.
If you're just meeting for coffee it's called an "informational interview."
You should wear a suit unless you know this firm is really casual, in which case you should still look presentable (wear a sportcoat or wtv.)
Research the firm and what that partner actually does. Just think of questions about her practice and career. See if she is willing to connect you to lawyers who practice in fields you are interested in.

We spoke on the phone first for about 20 minutes, and then she recommended we get coffee at her office.Actus Reus wrote:What did you email her and describe it as? Getting coffee? Wear a suit, but no tie. Unbutton the top button of your shirt, and when you roll in, look longingly at her and say:
Hello darlin' nice to see you
It's been a long time
You're just as lovely as you used to be
How's your new love
Are you happy?
Hope you're doing fine
Just to know it means so much to me
What's that darlin'? How am I doing?
Guess I'm doing all right
Except I can't sleep and I cry all night till dawn
What I'm trying to say is I love you and I miss you
And I'm so sorry that I did you wrong
Look up darlin'
Let me kiss you just for old time sake
Let me hold you in my arms one more time
Thank you darlin'
May God bless you and may each step you take
Bring you closer to the things you seek to find
Goodbye darlin' gotta go now
Gotta try to find a way to lose these mem'ries
Of a love so warm and true
And if you should ever find it in your heart to forgive me
Come back darlin', I'll be waiting for you
Frantically masturbate while this is going on so she knows how serious you are about her time.

OP here: This is pretty funny, but as someone in the 0 CBs club, it's also not funny.bjsesq wrote:Wear a suit, but no tie. Unbutton the top button of your shirt, and when you roll in, look longingly at her and say:

Also is this still considered an "informational" interview after the phone call. I know it's obviously not a callback, but I'm hoping it could turn into something with the firm.

It's still an informational interview. Chances are it won't turn into anything with the firm. But if you play your cards right you can get an ally on your side who can connect you to other attorneys and even serve as something of a reference.

True that's what I was thinking. But she's also one of the hiring partners, which is why I'm confused.minnbills wrote:It's still an informational interview. It doesn't matter what the hell you call it. Treat it as an interview.Anonymous User wrote:True that's what I was thinking.
