Fish & Richardson -- Thoughts?

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Sep 06, 2014 8:25 pm

Received an offer at Fish & Richardson in one of their primary offices. Undecided on whether I want to do lit or pros, but I only want to do IP so they are a top choice. I've read all of the Vault/Martindale/Chambers descriptions, but want to get some less formal thoughts on the firm. Does anyone know much about Fish? Their financial health? Their reputation generally? Work/life balance?

Is there any reason I should shy away from this firm? Or should I just accept it and not think twice...

Fish is really top notch as far as IP lit goes. They get great cases and they have an excellent reputation. If you want a boutique, they're as good as you can get.

In Boston, Fish is pretty unquestionably top dog in IP. WilmerHale is next best in lit, but their practice is focused primarily on ANDA/Hatch-Waxman and IPR to some extent. Fish is the full spectrum.

In DC, Finnegan is possibly more respected, but mostly for their breadth of experience and depth of their bench. Fish is still viewed as the "brainier" of the two.

Ok, good. Sounds like I am making the right choice then. Offer rate is 20/21, too, so I hope id have to be exceptionally bad to get no-offered.
