just starting year five and totally love the job. I think I'd be content if they paid me literally a third of my actual salary. Never understood the folks who hate it. I worked between college and LS and compared to life in a big corporation, a law firm is cotton candy and lollipops.

Yeah I don't get why it's so vogue around here to completely sh*t on the legal profession and big law. It really gives the impression that no one is happy and everyone who attended law school is a sucker and a sell out.

I worked for a few years between college and law school too. Hours were pretty bad, pay wasn't great, opportunities for advancement were slim and I wasn't exactly curing cancer or bettering mankind.

The opportunity to work at a major law firm, making great money, setting yourself up for partner or exit opportunities, and getting great practical experience with how major corporations and funds conduct their business, is NOT the end of the world and it's something you would think more TLSer's would actually see value in.

Maybe the vocal minority is just reacting towards the constant stream of posters who think it's Big Law or Bust. But people should take a step back and realize that it's not like they were going to be movie stars if they hadn't pawned their dreams to pay for the LSAT. Big Law is a job, so it sucks sometimes. But as far as jobs go, there's a lot worse you could do.
