Is this hokey and/or offputting? (srs)
If I said during CB: "[Firm] is my dream job, particularly because of [location] and [work] that is done here, and blablabla..." ?
I have 1 CB left, and it is a firm I would take over anyone I've interviewed with so far. Perfect blend of work, location, other tangibles. Hopefully the people and everything seem like a good fit, but we'll see
Opinions?

I would just say top choice instead of dream job. An associate hearing "dream job" might just roll their eyes.

Yup. I would question the sanity of anyone whose dream job was "law firm associate." "First choice" works.

Letting a firm know they're your top choice seems fine imo - I don't see a draw or how it could hurt your candidacy. Even seems like a positive to let them know, I'm sure they'd appreciate hearing it. I'm sure you can blend this statement in organically in response to the question "where are you in the process?" or "what other firms have you been looking at?" That said, don't let it being your top choice get inside your head.
I failed to control that top choice mentality and I am now expecting a ding letter from the firm 1 week later. Something I did at that firm ruined my shot - chalk it up to nerves because it was so clearly my top choice, but I had been pitching a perfect game until them. I was really only myself with two of my interviewers - I want a redo so bad it's hard to sleep at night. (this section is irrelevant to you I guess, but I'm so angry and disappointed with myself I needed to vent it anon).
But I laid that top choice statement on my final interviewer (hiring partner) and he responded to it positively.

Dream job is pushing it, especially for BigLaw. Top choice with concrete reasons can be effective if not contrived. I have found it pretty easy to see through faked enthusiasm (I'm sure some are good at faking it, but if you are asking here, you probably don't have the talent needed to pull it off seamlessly -- and the danger in faking it is that if you get caught, you can be viewed as desperate).

No, I told a firm today they were my top choice and I would be ready to accept an offer (bc they actually are my #1, literally #1 oci bid etc). As long as you are sincere its a good move IMO. I prefer "top choice" to "dream job " but same shit doubt it matters

Had a CB with a firm, went a week without any word, wrote them a letter expressing that they were my top choice, received an offer after 16 long-ass days. I have to think that helped me at least a little.
Edit: This was a v10. If it can work with them, it can work anywhere. Just don't come on too desperate and you'll be fine.
