Was more or less told that I was on hold as well. Hoping decisions are made sooner rather than later.

How long ago since they told you? I'm thinking the max. wait time will be 28 days, since that's as long as people can hold offers, but I doubt most people hang on to offers for that long before getting back to firms... any 3Ls able to speak on this?

I was told on Friday...something along the lines of "Oh well we have a small summer class so we need to be careful about how many offers we have out, but please keep us apprised of your impending deadlines and we hope to be in touch very shortly blah blah blah."Anonymous User wrote:How long ago since they told you? Hoping people are courteous enough to withdraw from firms once they've accepted elsewhere.

Can anyone shed some light on why people are put "on hold" - Does it mean the firm took more summers than it actually has room for in the 2015 associate class? Or does it mean the firm's experienced some sort of unexpected change that's impacted how many offers it can afford to make? Is putting people on hold a common practice?

It means they have offers out, but need to see who will actually accept their offers. Say for instance a firm is aiming for a 10 person summer class, they will put out 10 offers and then wait and see who accepts.
