Classmates CB and rejected and I have nothing

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Aug 24, 2014 12:32 pm

There are a few NYC firms - V30 range - which have done CBs to a few of my classmates as well as rejected most of the rest. I've not been contacted at all and curious if i'm on some sort of wait list for the summer class?

I already have 2 offers from firms I would already take so no longer worried (Another V30 and a secondary market). But this NYC firm was one I really liked. Any insight - wait list, or did they simply forget about me? Should I email my interviewer or recruitment director and if so, what should I say?

Did you check snail mail as well? I have received some rejections via that way

honestly, there must be a hold system in place at some firms. There's one CB I haven't heard back from after the wave of admits/rejections went out, and there are even two screeners from several weeks ago where I haven't heard anything after dings went out. It would make sense - if they aren't seeing a critical mass of strong candidates interviewing and accepting offers, they wouldn't want to reject all of the close calls immediately

Ya that could also hurt themselves because the kids on hold may/prob are getting other offers which put the student on a timer. So we will be less likely to accept a callback or have much time for one even if they wait long enough

Cahill and I believe Dechert snail mail rejections. FWIW I had to schedule a Dechert callback a month out from OCI so it's possible that they are waiting to get in touch with people til closer to when they are available. IDK why, but it's possible IMO

Currently a first year associate at a firm where I was still waiting to hear back after some classmates had gotten offers and others had gotten rejections (we'd all done callbacks the same time). I followed up with recruiting periodically (and kept them informed of other offers) and eventually got an offer. So, definitely can happen.
