process of mailing mid-size/small-size firms

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:39 pm

I'm about to start the process of mailing mid-size/small-size firms after a so-far offerless OCI process. I have a list of firms, however for 95% im not sure whether they accept applications yet.

Do i just send them out, or should I call each firm first to ask? I would hate to send an app out only to be ignored. my school says they really dont start hiring until january/february but i want to get a head start on the ones that don't.

Send first copy starting 9/1 or so. Send update Jan/Feb.

I would not call.

Top 5% at a T2, thinking I might have struck out at OCI (along with several other top 10% kids at my school). I was wondering the same thing in regards to timing...(Yes, I have started mass-mailing mid-law firms and nearby [within ~100 miles] big-law firms. [For family reasons I am unable to apply anywhere/everywhere - I must stick with my local market]).

Any help/advice is much appreciated. What in God's name can I do, besides send a resume/transcript to every firm within 100 miles?
