Has anyone heard anything re: callbacks? I know they move slowly.

I had an in person interview in DC at the beginning of September, and didn't hear anything after that. Yesterday I got a call out of the blue from my interviewer asking if I had taken a job yet b/c the committee was making final decisions. I asked when I could expect to hear, and she said she's not on the committee so she can't say for sure, but probably by the end of this week (i.e. i guess today since it's Friday?) Did anyone else get a call like this?

Did you end up receiving an offer Friday? Competition or Consumer Protection?

I did not hear back on Friday. Hopefully she meant the end of this coming week? Or maybe she was overly hopeful about the committee's timeline? This is for Consumer Protection.

Got the same last week. Does anyone know what the long wait is for? Budgeting? I know people who have been getting offers, but in regional offices.

Not sure how many last year, but the woman I spoke to last week told me they were looking to take around 10 this year. Any updates out there? This waiting is a killer.

complete silence here. do you mean a 2l summer class of 10 or 10 full time offers from last year's summer class? i'm just nervous about whether there is even a possibility of post grad jobs because a lot of government positions aren't hiring their summers

For those looking ahead, I recently received an offer for an entry-level position. They told me that they gave offers to 5 of 8 their summers and then had 3-4 additional spots. So there's definitely a shot through the summer program and not, though I think it varies by year and some years they satisfy their hiring needs completely from the summers. I hope this helps some.

Thanks so much for the info! I've seen old posts where people said BCP hired few if any of their summers, so this is promising. If I were to get the Pathways job for summer, I would honestly be happiest to get contacts/potential references out of the job. Obviously an offer would be great, but the references and experience help so much for honors programs.

And to address the previous post, my interviewer told me they were looking to take around 10 Pathways interns. Did not mention how many they were considering hiring post-grad.

Maybe they're taking so long b/c they're focusing on full-time employment right now? One can only hope. Does anyone have any idea how big the applicant pool is at this point?

Around when did you hear back from them last year? Will it be in Dec or Jan?

I apologize for the ambiguity. I was not there last summer; I did a volunteer internship at DOJ Antitrust. I was only offering what I knew about how they hire for those wondering about full-time job prospects.

Oh I see. Did you get an offer from Competition (which seems more accurate given your antitrust work) or BCP?

Yup. I emailed my interviewer yesterday to update some information, and she said final decisions should be made soon. My boss from summer emailed me on Tuesday to let me know someone from the FTC (again) called for a reference, so that's promising. Who wants to call for a more definite time statement? :P

Thanks a lot. My plan was to call on Thursday if I don't hear from them by then. At that point it will be 2 weeks since they called to ask if I was still available, so I figured that's reasonable.
