informal emails from firms

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Aug 18, 2014 3:00 am

I'm not sure if I should think anything of this: Two weeks ago, I sent an application to a firm I like that wasn't coming to OCI. A week ago, they asked me for a copy of my transcript. Today, I received an email asking about my practice area interests.

Normally, firms either ignore my massmail or give me a screener/cb. Has the above happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what this means, if anything?

Had this happen with a firm that did a resume collection at my school. They emailed asking about my interest in the geographical area and requested additional documents.

They're considering bringing you in for an interview. Same thing happened to me, then they called a week later to fly me out.

Nice I'm in the same boat. Firm emailed me back asking for my class rank and practice areas. Waiting on that phone call

Straight to CB or screener?

Either way, hope you're right. I'd love to work for this firm. I put down the practice area I thought might be best fitted (ie: engineering undergrad --> IP, CPA --> tax, fluency in multiple languages --> international law)

I had a firm do this to me about two weeks ago, but I have heard nothing since. I wouldn't jump to conclusions. They could just be adding to your file.

They asked me which of their offices and practice areas I was most interested in (even though it said which practice areas in my cover letter). Still haven't heard anything from them.

i've had a few experiences with this: one time it went straight to CB, one time it went to Skype screener, one time I heard "thanks but no thanks" after I let them know my practice interest.
