Generally, should you expect a rejection if you hear about people getting offers when they had their CBs the same day as you?
Trying to figure out about the process more generally. I know that the hiring committee will meet at some point (probably once a week during this process). However, they need to receive the comments from the people you interview with...right? So it IS possible that I'm not out yet?
Trying to read the tea leaves I suppose. I was just really interested in this firm.

probably a ding or hold. BUT if they met, for instance, the following day and one of your interviewers got busy and couldn't do the eval in time, it's possible you just weren't on the docket.

Typically, it's a ding or hold, but one firm that I interviewed with changed interviewers mid-way through the day. Those who had the morning interviewer found out that evening about callbacks. I had the afternoon interviewer, and found out the following evening. Thought I was dinged for sure, but it worked out.

It's very hard to generalize, because firms' internal processes vary, but it's certainly possible to get an offer later than someone else who had their CB on the same day. If one candidate is a sure thing (top grades/resume/interview reports), he/she may get an immediate offer while a second candidate is held over until the firm has seen more people and has a better sense of the overall pool. And some candidates may be put on hold for an extended period - essentially like a wait list - until the firm assesses the response to their early offers. If it seems more people than expected are declining their early offers, the firm may start giving offers to people on the wait list. Obviously it would be nicer to get an offer right away, but until you get the rejection, there's still hope.Anonymous User wrote:Generally, should you expect a rejection if you hear about people getting offers when they had their CBs the same day as you?

OP here. Thanks all.
I assume there's nothing I can really do at this point to increase my chances? Perhaps send a slightly updated resume?

post-CB? I wouldn't even send an updated resume. Their opinion of you has been settled. It now depends on whether people above you pull out enough to warrant an offer.Anonymous User wrote:OP here. Thanks all.
