Cravath Offers
Has anyone had a callback with Cravath yet? If so, how long did it last, and are they doing on-the-spot offers this year?

Had a pre-EIP call back. Lasted until about 4, and yes on the spot offer after. (Recruiting chatted with me afterwards and it sounded like it was a very common occurrence.)Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone had a callback with Cravath yet? Any indication/experience as to the CB-to-offer conversion rate? If no offer on the spot, does that mean no offer will be coming?

Cravath is one of the few firms that still does full day interviews. Usually involves lunch with a couple of young associates. When I had a callback last year the ultimate hiring partner was traveling so I did not receive on-the-spot offer but received call from hiring partner next day with an offer. So although they often do on-the-spot offering, don't necessarily freak out if you don't get one!

Full day? Are they just like other CBs but you meet more attorneys? Or are they more substantive, or..?Anonymous User wrote:Cravath is one of the few firms that still does full day interviews. Thanks for the info, it's really helpful.

Re: Cravath Offers
Previous anon - typically just meet with more attorneys - but this is somewhat dependent on who is available that day (which can change at the last minute depending on whatever deals the lawyers are on). If I could give one tip - and this goes for all callbacks - if you can, get a list of who you are interviewing with and/or write their names down quickly if you can because you often get asked with every subsequent attorney you talk to "so, who have you met with today" - and given how many you meet with and how stressed you may be, this is easy to blank on!

The interviews are unstructured in that each interviewer can take as long as they want with you. You also won't be given a list of interviewers ahead of time. One of my interviews lasted 1.5 hours last year, but it was pretty much just a laid back conversation.

They do full day interviews. It's a waste of their time but I guess it makes them feel special. Same day offers usually unless their hiring chair is out of the office.

If you search Cravath callback on the forum search you'll get a ton of info. Short answer is that each interviewer gets to take as long as they want, but each one is generally like a typical callback interview. There tends to be some waiting time between interviews so you won't do that many. You will want to be ready to make small talk when the partner calls recruiting to let them know the interview is over, because it takes 5-10 minutes for the recruiting person to get there.

Also be prepared to chat up the poor paralegal tasked with taking you from one interview to another. Definitely wins the "most time in the hallway" award.
