Latham 3L Hiring
Latham seemed to be interviewing 3L's for most of their offices this year, as they've done in years past. Let's use this thread to keep track of any callbacks/dings/etc.

Aw, really? I had to cancel my on campus interview because I was finishing up my internship, and when I tried to reschedule, their Chicago office told me they were not sure if they were hiring 3Ls (which sounded pretty suspicious since they're obviously interviewing 3Ls).
I guess they lied to me ....

It's possible they won't know about 3L hiring until all of their 2L SAs accept/decline their offers, and they're lining up if-needed candidates out of 3L OCI.Anonymous User wrote:Aw, really? do SA really decline their offers? i always assumed that eevry SA would be ecstatic to get an offer and thus accept them. isnt it risky declining the guaranteed offer from the firm where u were SA, because you may not get another job offer from another firm.

judging based on my classmates/friends/myself, most people fortunate enough to get a full-time offer post 2L SA do accept them. that being said, there are some rising 3Ls who received offers from their 2L SA firm who take some time to accept or decline -- either because they are shopping for a firm stronger in a certain practice area, are unsure about fit with their current firm, are hoping to change markets, or split with another firm and are weighing options. most rational people would hold onto that offer (and wait on accepting or declining) until they've heard back from other firms they've applied to and made a decision. i would think it'd be ballsy and strange to decline an offer with nothing else in hand.

Re: Latham 3L Hiring
I assume the people a firm like Latham is offering as 3L's are those with a 2L SA offer already in hand, so it would seem that some people do turn down one SA offer for another firm. The problem is that just about everybody has an October 1 deadline to accept their offer, so it's not like firms can wait until after that date to start poaching people.
