Callbacks are being made by a firm I interviewed with yesterday...am I screwed if I haven't heard? Is it typical that they are all made in one round?

I'm in the same boat and I have just assumed I'm not getting called back at that firm once I hear some have gone out. Much easier to manage emotions that way.

Without knowing your school, the firm or firm type, or your time zone this is difficult to pin down. First, I've found at least call time varies by interviewer, not by firm; second, obviously not all calls can be made by the same interviewer at the same time. You could be later in the day. Third, IME there are auto-call backs that are largely grade or connection driven that occur in the first round, and then a secondary (albeit smaller) round for most interviewers a little later. But this really varies (some might be all on the same day). If a day ends and your interviewer made calls and you haven't gotten one, then you weren't the first pick but you aren't screwed either .. unless you get a ding email or something.

Overall it's just best not to worry about this when there's nothing you can do about it.

My fear summed up.

My worst fear is snail mail dings. I can check email, but knowing something might come in snail mail means I spent days worrying (if only a bit) for nothing.

I don't know if it's an "authority" issue, and again - this is only how I've seen it play out at my school - but each interviewer operates on their own calling timetable.
