Denver BigLaw OCI 2014

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Aug 12, 2014 1:33 pm

Didn't see a forum for this yet. There are only a handful of biglaw SA positions in Denver each year, so hopefully this thread will be helpful in keeping each other updated on what's happening where.

Definitely interested, and there seems to be a handful of us on TLS (more than past years, anyway).

Monday was the first day of CU OCI. Heard from some friends that Dorsey & Whitney sent out ding emails a couple hours after interviews finished.

Interviewed with Gibson Dunn Denver with no ties because it was available on open sign up. Probably have a better shot at winning the lottery

Any insights on their Denver office from your interview?

I interviewed at OCI with GDC, A&P, and Hogan Lovells. CB from HL, haven't heard a peep from the other two. All were very nice, and it was much less about why I was looking at Denver than I expected, based on what people have said about the market. Interviews were straightforward screeners like all the others. HYS with a grad degree from CU.

Are you wanting to do lit? Do you know how many summers they're looking for?

Good luck with your HL callback!

Yes, lit. Not sure about size. I didn't ask any of them, but I got the sense that they all have pretty small classes, maybe GDC especially because that office is so small to begin with. Thanks; good luck to you as well!

Had a cb with Bryan Cave, dinged from GDC, waiting on HL and A&P from screeners. Those screeners were almost two weeks ago; am I just waiting or are those dings?

HYS, so not sure about rank, but probably 10-15%.

Dang. If you got dinged, there is probably no hope for the rest of us.

Don't get down! I could have done a lot better in the screener, so I wasn't too surprised.

Does anyone know much about Cooley's office in Broomfield? Seems like a pretty good set up (market pay, brand name firm, decent office size, etc.). Am I missing something here? I'm assuming it's hard to get hired there but am just wondering about the prospect of working there.

I imagine the biggest drawback is the obvious one: you have to be in Broomfield.

Have a CB coming up with GDC. Anybody know how soon they get back to people about offers and how many offers they've already made?

Anyone hear from Brownstein?
I know they typically hire heavily in Denver.
