It is kosher to mention an upcoming CB in a city to an OCI interviewer right?
Also, if they ask what firm, is it bad if the CB is with a more elite firm (think W&C vs. DLA Piper or Hunton & Williams for litigation)? I don't want them to think I'm not really interested in them, and the odds if getting an offer from the elite firm are slim anyway.

my guess is that the evidence that you want to be in their city that this demonstrates would overcome any sort of bias formed by the firm being more elite. Also, at a place like Hunton, if you talk more about substantive work experience and an interest in one of their higher-end practices (like environment, assuming we're talking a/b DC), then I don't think it has to come off the way you're worried about. Also, I'm sure that you already being there provides a slight nudge in favor of calling you back because their potential cost is lessened (although half a flight is very very little in comparison to the cost of interviewing you).

You also might be able to get away with not mentioning the name of the firm if you're really that worried about it. The interviewer might directly ask you the name if you don't mention it, but I doubt it.

I got a CB that way, with an office of a V10 firm that doesn't do screeners at my school.
My experience was that, if you're outside NY, firms will invariably ask what other firms you're interviewing with in their city.
