of all the rotten luck... advice please
i've been mass-mailing since july and finally scored a callback with a v100. the problem is my school is one of those that has oci in late august, and the firm would like to schedule the cb in late august. (i really like this firm too; it's even in the city i want)
i even called career services to see if there are any days in august i can do the cb on.
thoughts? advice?
btw, median @ ccn

This isn't even rotten luck. Get it moved way up or a little back. That's assuming the date they gave you is the same as an OCI day. If it's just after, you're gonna have callbacks then anyway, so it fits in the proper timeframe.

i offered to move it up but the firm does not have anyone available before early-late August. i think it's because of the work that goes behind putting together a callback.txdude45 wrote:This isn't even rotten luck. the nice thing is that they won't have to pay for my flight or hotel since i was planning to be in town anyway

Why were you planning to be in town if you have OCI during that time?

Not necessarily, I have heard of people at my school going back to school for the week of OCI then going home to NYC as a base for CB's .

But that would solve his problem. OP said OCI was getting in the way of a potential callback.mommalee wrote:Not necessarily, I have heard of people at my school going back to school for the week of OCI then going home to NYC as a base for CB's .

Fair enough. Not sure why OP can't just schedule the CB the week after OCI or as soon as he has his OCI schedule.Mal Reynolds wrote:But that would solve his problem. He's probably at Columbia or NYU and OCI is in NYC.mommalee wrote:Fair enough. Just schedule it after OCI. What is the issue? The recruiting secretary won't ding you for having OCI. Come on.

The person who is scheduling CB's understands the madness that is OCI. Plus, they don't want you frazzled and messed up sprinting from a screener to your CB. Be honest, push it forward or back. I had to re-schedule a CB twice with a firm because of OCI. They didn't care at all. In fact, when I sent a very apologetic email about the second time they responded flatly, "No need to apologize, this is my job."Desert Fox wrote:He's probably at Columbia or NYU and OCI is in NYC.mommalee wrote:Fair enough. This is especially true if they haven't even sent you your interviewers yet. That means your just a name on a calendar. Rip off the bandaid and reschedule before you're actually a pain in the ass.
