Mass mail --> Screening interview "If you are in the area"

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Aug 04, 2014 6:41 pm

Quick question but, this equals I am paying myself right?

I mass mailed my home market and got this response. Is it stupid of me not to spend $350 - 700 for this screening interview? (medianish CCN, want NYC but this is backup)

Leaning towards asking for phone interview b/c too expensive to travel atm

I had a "are you gonna be in the area" from mass mailing with a firm in New York that I recently went to. I paid to go myself but it was 4 30 minute interview sessions so I think it was actually a call back. Something to think about because if that is the case it might make you want to go more.

for a screener? not stupid. For a callback, probably worth it if you can afford it. I'd just try to get a skype/phone screener if they're willing to go that direction

Thanks for the answers; had no idea what the etiquette is at all

I looked at flights and they are actually $700+ if you don't book a week in advance... actually just can't afford that. Asked for phone interview with caveat that I will be in the area in late August

thanks

worth seeing if they reimburse travel. Firms know we are all broke law students (or most of us are). Those who don't reimburse may be understanding of that expense issue. Talk to HR and see.
