What do you say when you stop by if you didn't get an OCI screener interview? - my school does a pre-select/lottery system.
I have been in touch with partners at these firms i'm interested in, (Kirkland, JD, S&C, etc) who told me to just stop by the desk/suite. These partners liked my background/resume and thought I would be a good fit (all conversations were over the phone b/c I'm working away from this market this summer so i wouldn't consider those conversations screeners). Is it better to visit the desk in addition to e-mailing materials to the hiring contact on NALP to express interest/sending in the application, or just visit them during OCI and not send an email ahead of time?
what have people done in the past and what has the reception been? Could emailing ahead maybe secure a screener before or after OCI if it better fits the schedule? i know this is really just specific to each firm so answers will vary but i'm interesting to hear your experience b/c our career office hasn't said a word about this.

Some firms might not have hospitality suites but I know the interviewer will have some down time between interviews. Is it appropriate to talk to them if I can get them at a free moment about a screener then, or later during the day?

You've got the right idea, with one caveat. I would definitely suggest applying via email beforehand/ASAP. However, you should also go to their hospitality suite, make some friendly/directed conversation, and attempt to drop off your materials (resume/transcript) in person. Don't mention that you applied online, because if you do they may not want your hard copies.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone else. In my opinion, this greatly improves the chances that your shit will actually get looked at. There's also no downside. It's not like the hiring committee is going to be like "WTF? This guy submitted electronic copies AND hard copies... DING."
