I have a meeting at their office in a week and curious where the consensus stands. Mid law and below market pay for NYC and SV

Interested to hear what TLS has to say about them. They seem to be trying to be a player in the Startup space in NYC and having an office in SV seems to also put that image forward.

The fact they pay below market is somewhat discouraging but i'm simply having a meeting, no interview lined up yet.

Does anyone have positive/negative thoughts on the firm, their work, reputation in general, exit options, etc.

They are a New Jersey firm, so they actually pay at the top of the market here. You won't find a firm headquartered in Jersey that pays more. In that respect and by the size of their firm, they are the biggest player in New Jersey.

The other side of the coin, as you noted, is that LS is a firm that wants to continue growing. They constantly compare themselves to "those firms on the other side of the river." From what I've heard, they will work you as hard as those firms, but you will also get the biggest and best cases in Jersey if you work at their HQ.

No idea about exit options but I would assume they're at least as good as any other firm in Jersey and possibly on the same level as some of the NY firms.

this seems to be what I have gathered on my research of them as well. They have a decent sized NYC office as well and only pay a little below market in NYC, 150 in NYC. Pretty good firm to bid reasonably high if your grades are not the type where a firm like Cleary would be holding the door open for you.

had interview with them and received offer soon afterwards. very nice people. from what I've heard, they will work you hard but are very accommodating. a friend knows someone working there this summer and loved that place b/c of the way he was treated.

Yeah I have a friend who summered there too, he had a bad experience but he is little aspie/weird and was probably an outlier. The consensus seems to be they are the best in NJ and are just a solid firm in general

Any one know if they summer out of NYC and SV or is it just the NJ office.

Just a tip: It's pronounced Lowen-STINE. I kept saying Lowen-STEEN on my screener last year, and the interviewer got more and more annoyed about it every time.
