I think "requirement" is a loose word. I've heard of numerous firms that have an 1800/50 requirement in DC, but you're really just expected do be doing work as it comes in. I don't know if any of these 1500 people are gunning for partner. They're probably just busy.MarkinKansasCity wrote:All the firms here have a billables requirement of 1850. Lol at the east coast.

And hey, Cravath doesn't even have a billable requirement! If you worked there, you don't have to do any work!MarkinKansasCity wrote:All the firms here have a billables requirement of 1850. Lol at the east coast.

The requirement is a floor and not the ceiling. You will be assigned work and you will be expected to do it. If the partner assigns you a shit ton of work, you will be working way more than 160 a monthMarkinKansasCity wrote:All the firms here have a billables requirement of 1850. Lol at the east coast.

Nalp shows average actual billables at 1800 for the firms that list that information.gk101 wrote:The requirement is a floor and not the ceiling. Re: Hours check 7-27
lol ok. I should add that whining about too many hours is a good problem in this economy and law firm environment. Having some perspective helps a lotMarkinKansasCity wrote:Nalp shows average actual billables at 1800 for the firms that list that information.gk101 wrote:The requirement is a floor and not the ceiling. Just over 1600 (like 40 of that is pro bono). First year, V20, west coast M&A/capital markets. Have convinced myself that I actually like (most of) the work.

As an ignorant current student, how are the NALP figures inaccurate? Does firm recruitment just straight lie to nalp? I don't see how else they could fudge these numbers..jd20132013 wrote:MarkinKansasCity wrote:Nalp shows average actual billables at 1800 for the firms that list that information.gk101 wrote:The requirement is a floor and not the ceiling.
