Can anyone speak specifically to 3L hiring in Minnesota?

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jul 19, 2014 8:25 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience/success with applying for full-time associate jobs as a 3L in Minnesota?

I'm aware that most firms have summer programs, and they usually hire out of the summer class.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks!

Almost all hiring in MN for entry level jobs is through summer programs. Hiring outside of that is contingent on firm needs and likely won't be filled until months before they expect you to start.

That being said, keep an eye on the new firms entering the market (Carlson Caspers, hogan lovells, Dykema, etc.) and monitor job banks and school career websites.

Also, meet with attorneys from your law school and network. Many jobs are not even posted and filled by "who you know."

Best of luck. I got in as a 3L and the job hunt was rough. It works out if you want it though, just keep grinding.

Would you say that applying now, or even in the coming months, would be a waste of time?
