Finnegan financials
Hi everybody. I am looking for some clarification from practicing ip attorneys on Finnegan. While the firm is regarded rather highly for the quality of its work, it's financials seem to leave something to be desired. Last year, it experienced a 9% revenue drop and a 15% ppp drop. I have also read about partner and associate departures on ATL. Is this normal attrition/market correction or is there something wrong at the firm? In deciding between finnegan versus a GP firm with strong ip lit and better financials (e.g. K&e, k&l gates, Mayer brown, akin), is the general perception that a candidate would be better off choosing the GP firm at this point? Thanks in advance!

Finnegan is fine, shut up about the PPP decrease. Talk to us when/if you have an offer

this might be a bit too critical of a response IMHO. It's good to worry about these things going in - but don't not bid on them. 1. it's good interview experience especially if you can get them early in the cycle; 2. the above is somewhat right - start worrying about this when you get an offer - you don't want to start the job search again after being a 1st year associate b.c the firm is going under.filibuster wrote:Finnegan is fine, shut up about the PPP decrease. Re: Finnegan financials
Finnegan isn't going away but from inside sources there is a little bit of a conflict between low margin work like patent prosecution, and high margin work like litigation. Maybe they'll structure their partnership differently, but they are losing partners now because they can't pay them as much as firms w/ pros shop can.
