Top Third? Upper Third? Top 1/3? Top 33?
What is the preferred way to report on one's resume that his/her GPA fell in the "upper third"?

Just list GPA, firms know about where gpas are, or better may guess you're higher than you are

Just say you're in the top one third of your class.

Doesn't your school provide guidelines?

OCS and Academic Services offer the suggestion that if you're ranked within the top 35%, then you should include your rank. It's clear that most other percentiles -- e.g. Top 10%, Top 25% -- would be expressed as "Top ##%". "Top 33%" looks funky to me, though, and I thought "Top Third" or "Upper Third" seemed more appropriate. Can't seem to find consensus, however.

I agree that it should be expressed as a %, but 33% isn't nearly precise enough. "Top 33.33%" would be more appropriate.

My school only tells us top 25% and top 50% and says we aren't allowed to take a stab at what our GPA% would be and report that to reporters. So I just list my GPA. I can't imagine that being a big deal.
I would just put top 33% if that's what the school tells you you are and be done with it.
