Alert firm about Law Review?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jul 09, 2014 9:06 am

I'm a student at a T~50 school with median grades. I should rightly be going to the vale of tears having struck out on OCI, but there's a major opportunity for me. Through a connection, I was able to interview with the chairman of a large (non-OCI) firm who referred me to the hiring partner. They both told me that they really liked me, and hinted that I would be a new associate hire after 3L as long as the economy of their firm dictated they had room to expand.

Given that, now: I just made law review. It was quite an achievement considering my school invites mostly on the basis of grades.

Do you think I should send my interviewers an email sharing the good news, or does that come off as too self-promoting?

Is it an unnecessary risk since my job is apparently economy-dependant?

Just send them an email with an updated resume "to reflect my journal position" and anything else that may have changed. Do not send them an email saying "I just wanted to alert you to the fact that I made LAW REVIEW."
