Resume Drop vs. Email
For firms that list a resume drop on Simplicity, is it better to apply directly through Simplicity or to email necessary files to the recruiter listed? I am wondering if recruiters ever fail to check Simplicity for submitted resumes/transcripts (I don't know how that works) in which case is email a safer option?

I actually asked someone in our CDO this question recently and they told me to trust the symplicity website.
However, I don't really trust what that person told me. From my own personal experience, I'm currently working at a summer internship that I applied to via our Symplicity website and got no response at all. I later emailed the employer and heard back in a matter of a few days. I've literally applied to over a dozen SA spots pre-OCI and heard from 0 of them. I've sent my materials to recruiters via email and have received positive responses.
I'm convinced that employers do not check those Symplicity things, and even if they do, the process is certainly annoying for them. They have to reach out to you for your transcript, which is totally stupid. Grades are THE distinguishing characteristic for the vast majority of firms -- how many people are going to have something so impressive on their resume that the employer wants to reach out directly to them?
I think the whole symplicity system is stupid as hell and basically only good for knowing who to send stuff to, rather than where to send it.

I don't know if law firms really check them or not. However, I applied to a 1L summer in-house job through a symplicity resume collect and received an interview from it. It should be noted that this employer is in the same city as my law school and regularly hires alums full-time (from firms, though - not immediately after graduation) so you might take that with a grain of salt.

I applied to 50 things for 1L before getting my current job, which I got through mass mail. 35 were on simplicity. 34 were radio silence.
