Florida Legal Markets Outside of Miami

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jul 07, 2014 3:35 am

What are the top legal markets in Florida outside of Miami/South Florida? Any insight on Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville etc.?

I'm curious which have the most SA's, which have the largest number of national firms, most work that goes beyond the local market, etc.

Outside of Miami, where it barely exists, there is barely any market in the rest of the state. For example, I think last summer Fowler White which is 1 of the biggest firms in the state had 12 Summer Associates for every last firm in the entire state.

I'm also interested in this topic if anyone else has more info, but I'll share what I know. I'm mass mailing Orlando this week. It looks like most firms have between 1-3 summer associates for their Orlando office, and some firms (Greenberg Traurig) have 0. Don't know a ton about hours/culture but salary range seems to be between 100-120k.

While I don't agree with the above poster that there's no legal market outside Miami, I'll admit it's awfully small. There's about ~dozen firms in the city that are large enough to take SAs (and thus large enough for me to be interested in), which means--in my estimation--there's only about 20-30 SA positions in the entire city. That's pretty small.
