Requested to bring cover letter to screener, how to end CL?

Post by Yardbird » Fri Jul 04, 2014 1:08 pm

This might be a silly question, but how should we end cover letters that an employer requested we bring to a screener (they didn't request one earlier)? Normally for mass mailing I would just end saying something along the lines of here's my resume/transcript, I can give you more info, I'd be pleased to interview with you, thanks - that doesn't quite work here since I'm handing them my resume/transcript/writing sample and will also be handing them my cover letter. Also, can't really say the "I'd be pleased to interview with you" part since I'd be giving them the letter at the interview.

Also, address the cover letter to the interviewer or to the recruiting contact at the firm?

address to recruitment dept. If they are bringing you in I think they want this just in lieu of a writing sample so I wouldn't over think it

They want a writing sample too.

Also this is a screener at a job fair, not an "in-house" screener.

I'd end it with "please, please hire me"

Seriously, though, thanking them for their time/consideration, and providing your contact details are probably sufficient.

I'm sure they'll get the implicit "please, please hire me." Thanking them for their time/consideration and giving contact details was what I was thinking, I just wanted to get another opinion. Thanks!
