Are Vault and Chambers good resources on firm quality in TX? Dallas in particular. I'm looking at placed like VE, Bickel, Baker, Weil, JD, and Gibson. (Median at T14 with strong TX ties.)
Also, the diversity ratings for firms in Dallas are bad. Like very very bad. I'm concerned that there will be some unspoken, even unintended, detriment in getting any upward trajectory going by virtue of my URM status.
What are the best Dallas offices? Is it bad to go as a URM? Forum

Re: What are the best Dallas offices? Is it bad to go as a URM?
I would definitely throw Haynes and Boone in the mix. HB is big on diversity...They were acknowledged as having one of the most diverse summer associate classes in all of North America. They also support a bi-annual minority attorney retreat for all their offices. So, they are great supporters of URMs and I know are doing more things to retain and promote URMs in the firm.
HB was built on diversity. It was like the first "bigger" firm to hire Jewish and women attorneys in Dallas in the 70s. Obviously, the URM debate has shifted now to African-Americans/Hispanics/LGBT etc...but yes only a few years ago and no reputable firm in Dallas would hire jews or women. The story the firm tells is that...since they are a newer kid on the block, they can't afford to pass up talent....regardless of whether it comes in the form of AA/Hispanic/Women or whatever.
