Staying too long as a litigation associate & exit options

People always talk about missing the window to later in house. But is there a similar window for lit associates and lit type exit options like smaller firms and governmento.

It depends on what kind of job you're talking about. Some require 10+ years of experience. Some require 1 or more.

In general, there are fewer non-law firm litigation jobs than corporate non-law firm jobs.

BIGFED litigation jobs are almost impossible to get.

I'm not familiar with state government litigation jobs, but I have to imagine they pay very little and are few and far between considering that most states are still bankrupt or close to bankruptcy.

There are probably 40-50 non-litigation in house jobs for every litigation in house job. And no, this is not an exaggeration.

The most likely outcome from biglaw litigation is going to a smaller firm for smaller pay and (possibly, but not definitely) better hours.
