Re: Mass Mailing Guide
What is the formal title of the hiring person, where is the quickest place to find that info, and what if they don't list a "hiring person"? Thanks

Re: Mass Mailing Guide
Just so I'm clear:
1. Late July the typical time for mass-mailing?
2. Mass mail done entirely through email or is snail mail beneficial as well? CL and Resume both on resume paper sent in a manila envelope so it's not folded?

July is a good time to start. Absolutely zero of the bigger firms want snail mail. Stick to email.Anonymous User wrote:Just so I'm clear:

Re: Mass Mailing Guide
Also, if a firm says apply online, it is probably best to do that. So don't just assume email apps to everyone.Danger Zone wrote:July is a good time to start. Absolutely zero of the bigger firms want snail mail. Stick to email.Anonymous User wrote:Just so I'm clear:

Re: Mass Mailing Guide
Generally if you email an app to a firm that wants you to apply online, you will get an automated response telling you to apply online.

Is it kosher to send an email application to a firm that is coming to OCI? I want to apply to a couple firms that don't have many OCI interview slots.

The firm will likely inform you that they are coming to your school's OCI and for you to bid to set an interview up then.Anonymous User wrote:Is it kosher to send an email application to a firm that is coming to OCI? I want to apply to a couple firms that don't have many OCI interview slots.
For firms that are coming to OCI--bid on them, wait until your interview schedule is released and if you didn't land an interview with that firm, then shoot them an email with CL and resume explaining you are very interested in their firm but were not able to be slotted for an interview despite bidding on them.

Is NALP reliable for getting names/addresses of hiring people? I mean is it up to date?

Combine your cover letter, resume, and transcript in one attached PDF file. This will make it easy on the recruiter.

Can someone else second this? Most people I know attach them all separately.eastcoast_iub wrote:Combine your cover letter, resume, and transcript in one attached PDF file. This will make it easy on the recruiter.

Re: Mass Mailing Guide
What about doing both? Attaching separate docs and also a combined doc? Or is that too much?

That would probably just confuse people.

Re: Mass Mailing Guide
I got 7 callbacks from mass mailing and always combined everything in one attachment. Think about it from recruiting's perspective: when they are getting tons of mass mails and have limited time to review each one, if they want to review each requested submission (and if they didn't, why would they request something they don't plan on looking at?), would they really want to have to open a bunch of files separately?rad lulz wrote:Don'teastcoast_iub wrote:Combine your cover letter, resume, and transcript in one attached PDF file. Attach separately so it's easier for you to mix and match and to make it easier on someone who may only want to see one specific part of the package

Re: Mass Mailing Guide
It could matter at the margins. Who knows what minor factors could tip the balance in a recruiter's mind.
I don't care if you don't care how many CBs I got, the point is I am credible on this topic.
