Made Law Review, below median gpa - 2L employment thoughts?
I attend a top-20 school and was ecstatic to receive an offer for law review, only to be disappointed to learn that my gpa is at the top of the third quartile. I had an excellent LSAT and solid performance during legal writing, and finished second just short of the "best brief in section" distinction. Without any other flare to put on my resume besides law review and membership in a few organizations (in addition to prior work experience), what exactly are my 2L summer prospects like? No firm is going to want to take on someone in the 3rd quartile!

The vast majority of employers won't care about your LSAT. What exactly do you mean "third quartile"? What percentile are you? I would expect to be treated as someone with your rank, only perhaps slightly higher since you wrote-on to law review. I wouldn't expect a huge bump if you wrote-on. The other flare isn't really an issue, since you got law review to put on your resume.anon wrote:I attend a top-20 school and was ecstatic to receive an offer for law review, only to be disappointed to learn that my gpa is at the top of the third quartile. At some schools (like Minnesota) you only find out what "quartile" you're in, and where the cutoffs for those quartiles are.ph14 wrote:The vast majority of employers won't care about your LSAT. Will employers know that you are below 40%? Then LR means shit.
But it might trick some folks into thinking you are actually good at law school.

Looks like I'll have to shift my focus to more long-term employment goals. I didn't have a game plan going into law school so best I can do is pick up the slack and go from here. Going to have to try for some A's now.
