BADCF 2014

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jun 28, 2014 7:54 pm

Pre-selects (for those of us who get them) should start popping up on Symplicity on Monday morning. Here's a safe space to share bid results, bemoan our fate, and, after the fair, update with CB response times and results. Best of luck, everyone!

Feel free to use or alter this format for pre-selects:
School:
Rank:
Ties to Bay Area?:
IP?:
URM/Affiliation?:

# of bids:
# of Pre-Selects:
# of Alternates:

What the fox say?:

Thanks for making this. Anyone know if all the preselects come out at once or if it's rolling?

Judging from the past couple years, the majority of preselects will be up at midnight CA time, and then some firms that didn't submit on time will trickle in over the next few days after that.

neither was a firm i was expecting, but no complaints. both are great firms. (anyone get fenwick or wsgr?)

IP?: No
URM/Affiliation?: Asian male

# of Alternates: 1

The alternate is one of my top choices, so really knocking on wood. Like above poster, also wondering if Wilson Sonsini or Fenwick are out yet.

Rank: Top 10/15%
Ties to Bay Area?: None.
IP?: Nope.

# of bids: 24
# of Pre-Selects: 6
# of Alternates: 1

Missed out on my top choices (WSGR + Fenwick) and snagged some really odd interviews from firms whose median CB GPA is higher than my GPA at our school's own OCI.

Is it over? guess I won't be going to this fair....

Hispanic
School: MVP
Rank: Top 1/3
Ties to Bay Area?: No
IP?: No

# of bids: 8
# of Pre-Selects: 0
# of Alternates: 0

So how many people get preselects? Should I take this as a sign that it's not worth it (I'll pay for this weekend trip $1k+)?

It'd be useful to know what kind of minority everyone is. That should have been added to the form

Is there a chance that WSGR and Fenwick haven't gone out yet, then? Last year's thread seems to indicate some interview information coming out in waves.

That would be amazing, because that means we all have a shot still! Someone needs to (or please dont) post that they got one of the 2 so we can know if it is out. Also did anyone get Weil or Arnold & Porter?

It might be. From last year's thread:
Posted on the website.

Below is a list of employers that have not submitted their selections yet:

DLA Piper
Downey Brand
Fenwick & West
Kirkland & Ellis
Laughlin, Falbo, Levy & Moresi
Morgan Lewis & Bockius
San Francisco District Attorney's Office
San Mateo County District Attorney's Office
Shute Mihaly & Weinberger
Weil, Gotshal & Manges

Please stayed tuned at this announcement board for the latest updates.
Things may go out in a different order this year, but what this does mean is that it's at least possible not all of the firms have issued out their interview spots yet.

For reference, I got Kirkland, Orrick, Cooley, and DPW. Mixed race (Asian and white). I don't know if that means those firms have issued all their spots yet, but it's a data point.

I got a pre-select with WSGR and an alternate with Fenwick. It's very possible they are coming out in waves though.

Are you only eligible for lottery spots if you are an alternate?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
