Hi, so we need to submit bids now for 3L OCI. My best resume experience is going to be summering at the firm I'm at now. I also know firms prefer to hire previous summers. I am very happy at my current firm, and was told it seems to be working out well for both sides at the midterm review. In all honesty, I cannot see a better personality fit in big law. Of course, it's not a lock we'll be 100% offers, and all the summers are smart + normal. It's prudent to do 3L OCI until we all get offers.
However, will bidding signal that I'm unhappy, and lead firms to check in with my current firm to check my resume? I do not want to increase the odds of a no offer here in anyway considering this is probably the best shot I have at big law (say, 95%), and I'd probably choose it over other firms because of the work and the people. If I were in their shoes and had to cut one of a great class, I'd cut the one who seems disloyal or unhappy.

I don't think any firm will check in with your current firm until you've accepted their offer. When I did 3L OCI no one contacted my summer firm.Anonymous User wrote:Hi, so we need to submit bids now for 3L OCI. My best resume experience is going to be summering at the firm I'm at now. Cool, thanks! For 3L, are we supposed to know what practice group we want in our cover letter?unc0mm0n1 wrote:I don't think any firm will check in with your current firm until you've accepted their offer. Generally, yes. 3L hiring will almost always be practice group specific, and is often subgroup-specific (e.g. Cravath will hire 3Ls for their general corporate rotation; Skadden will hire 3Ls for particular subgroups like finance).Anonymous User wrote:For 3L, are we supposed to know what practice group we want in our cover letter?
