3.546 @ NYU bid list critique
I'm targeting CA, with NYC as a backup. Offices are in LA, unless otherwise noted. I'm interested primarily in litigation but chose to go with some corporate-focused firms because they had relatively large SA classes (a ton of the CA offices coming to NYU hire only 2-3 summers per year). I would really appreciate any advice.

Please be more specific. Rounding to the nearest thousandth is insufficient.

I'm sure people actually from NYU will chime in, but my guess is almost all your New York bids are going to be wasted that low.
What's your rank?

I think you need to rearrange your choices in terms of how likely you will get an interview, not in order of where you want to work. You probably won't touch Proskauer, Cooley, Wilson Sonsini, and most of the NYC V20's you listed from K&E on down with bids that low (I'm basing this off popularity at another CCN, I don't have NYU numbers specifically but they are probably comparable).

Lol wow.. I also have 3.546 @ NYU (but do you think firms will really weight Civ Pro?) and targeting LA with a lit focus. Will post bid list in a few days when I complete it.

The only NY offices you'd get below 29 would be Cleary and STB (those two probably won't fill up).

OP here. Thanks for the feedback. Lots to think about. The problem is that it's hard to know which firms I can safely lower without losing them altogether. The LA firms have very few interview slots.
As to my rank, my guess is top 20-25%, but I'm not sure.

Definitely top 25%. As long as you aren't awkward, prepare to crush EIW.Anonymous User wrote:OP here. Thanks for the feedback. Lots to think about. The problem is that it's hard to know which firms I can safely lower without losing them altogether. The LA firms have very few interview slots.

Does the distinction of Top 20 or 25 percent matter if your school does not designate it as an honor?Anonymous User wrote:Definitely top 25%.
