Review NYU 3.5 Bid list

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jun 12, 2014 2:26 pm

Want NY litigation - general commercial or securities litigation. GPA at NYU is a little above 3.5. No prior work experience (besides legal-related internships during summers). Was told by OCS I would be a good interviewer. In blue are the firms I want to make sure I get. Should I add/take out firms? Or move firms up or down?

Definitely wouldn't put Hogan that high. Median screener GPA at T20 is a 3.5

I'm OP from the 3.49 NYU thread (you may want to look through some of those comments, even though I'm focused around corporate). From what I hear, MoFo is very popular so you want that higher (depending on how much you want MoFo of course), also from what I hear Akin is likely to clear early

Weil can come down to around 6, Skadden needs to be top 3, Debevoise and Paul Weiss should both be top 15.

Paul Weiss is probably fine, but it's not DPW, Cleary, and STB, which literally don't clear. Same with Debevoise - it's probably fine where you have it but there are firms you could trade spots with, like Willkie and Fried.
IDK a/b Skadden LA. I think their seconday offices aren't super popular, but the NY one is tougher to bid for than Weil and Hogan.

Sorry I'm getting mixed up
Does "clear" mean you got a screener or you didn't?

edit: oh i udnerstand now.
What I meant was: I heard people got Paul Weiss in the 30s, and Debevois in the 20s...

I guess I thought "clear" meant the opposite of what I thought

You can lower Willkie. I'm a summer here, and it's a great firm, and I love it, but I got it last year at 28.
