3.63 at Duke: Bidding strategy?
Can I shun bidding NYC, where I have no desire to end up, in favor of bidding Charlotte/Atlanta and Texas? Also, what are my chances at snagging a Dallas firm (I have zero Texas ties)? Lastly, any guesses of where I fall percentile wise? 3.3 is median and I've heard that slightly over 3.5 is top 1/3rd. Thanks.

Based on the information you provided, the LSN rank estimator has you at about top 1/4, but I have to believe you're actually higher than that. Are you sure top 1/3 is over a 3.5? At UVA the median is 3.3 and top 1/3 is about a 3.42 (I think). I can't imagine they'd be that different.

Thanks for the percentile input. Bump as to the other questions.

Dallas will be a hard sell without ties or a real compelling reason to want to be there. Same for Charlotte / Atlanta. You might have better luck with Houston. Really though, bidding on any of these markets without ties is a crapshoot. I'd bid on some NYC firms as a backup just in case.

Can anyone risk not bidding New York? All the other markets seem so much smaller and risky to count on as a sure thing.
