Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
Because QE has a weird hiring model and they look like they are trying to send out offers before OCI, does anyone know if they are doing screeners yet?
Or conversely, any insight as to when they will start doing screeners or cbs?

Straight to call back.
Last year it started around July, if I remember correctly

Does it hurt to not schedule your callback until you're doing normal OCI callbacks? I'm not spending much time at my job this summer and if I get a callback I'd like to avoid missing a day of work.

I figure that the sooner you have a callback the sooner you know if you have that job or not.Yukos wrote:Does it hurt to not schedule your callback until you're doing normal OCI callbacks? Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
Trying to do a bunch of callbacks during school is hectic and hard to schedule. Missing a day of work is totally worth it. It's also nice to have an offer in-hand going into OCI... my buddy did the normal Quinn timeline, and while I was freaking the fuck out and doing a bajillion interviews and running around like a crazy person, she did, like, the 7 firms that she would consider working at over Quinn and felt free to decline callback offers. I was unbelievably jealous of how relaxed she was.Yukos wrote:Does it hurt to not schedule your callback until you're doing normal OCI callbacks? And, I mean, they have a finite number of summer spots. If everyone else does their CBs over the summer and people accept their offers at a high rate, then you probably won't get a job there if you want to do it after OCI.

a CB at QE is more important than a day at work.Yukos wrote:Does it hurt to not schedule your callback until you're doing normal OCI callbacks? I'm not spending much time at my job this summer and if I get a callback I'd like to avoid missing a day of work.
If you must, schedule it for after your job ends and before oci starts.
Based on people I know, dings and/or callbacks start somewhere in July, and most people have their offer before OCI starts. If you get an offer, cancel your OCI interviews with any firm you would not pick over QE, and give someone else a shot.

Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
I scheduled my Quinn CB to be at the same time as all of my other callbacks and still got an offer.
That said, I think you'd probably be better off doing it earlier. It's a benefit to you if you can get an offer and go through OCI with less stress.

I love that Quinn is the safety school of top firms offers. Everyone is like just get an offer so that you can relax and focus on getting what you really want in August.

Current QE Summer here.
1) You can apply as soon as you get grades. Callbacks and offers can go out as early as mid-June.
2) Having an offer in-hand during OCI really is pretty awesome. Though, surprisingly, it can make you a worse interview. Pro tip - if you have an offer from Quinn, don't mention it to other firms you are interested in until the callback stage at the earliest.

How long were you given to accept your QE offer? I know the norm for other firms is 2-3 weeks, but they say that they allow you more time.Anonymous User wrote:Current QE Summer here.

I think they'll hold it open until you're done interviewing with other places, but the minimum is 26 days. It wasn't a problem for me.KD35 wrote:How long were you given to accept your QE offer? They give you 28 days starting on the first day of your school's OCI.KD35 wrote:How long were you given to accept your QE offer? I know the norm for other firms is 2-3 weeks, but they say that they allow you more time.Anonymous User wrote:Current QE Summer here.

Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
Thanks for the advice everyone. The nice thing about my school is we start late so I don't have to worry about missing class for callbacks, but the points about slots filling up and having an offer going into OCI (obviously making a big assumption that I get an offer) are well taken.

Cover letter or no? The email says just transcript and resume but then later it says:
If you are interested in multiple offices, please email the office in which you are most interested and mention your second-choice office in your cover letter (cc-ing your second-choice office’s recruiting contact on the email). You can find the contact information for all of our U.S. office recruiters listed below.

Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
one of the QE offerees above
I'd wait until journal announcements unless it is going to be significantly later. I think they like to get the ball rolling early/you don't want to needlessly wait, but I also think they'll give you a cb/offer if you're a strong candidate either way.
I'd definitely include a cover letter. I think grades might be the real determinant factor in terms of who gets a CB, but if you have an interesting background/have a reason to want to be at the firm, it has to be better to highlight that up front, especially if you're into patent/medical patent stuff.

Current QE S.A. there's only one law review kid in my office, and I think they generally care much less about law review then most firms. Have a few friends in other QE offices, and only one if THEM is on LR too. So I'd apply without LR updates if you won't hear back for a while (I know my school won't release it until, like, mid July, so...)

I don't think we should man. We don't know journal until July and I think sending the QE emails much earlier than that is important. We can mention journal decisions haven't been made yet and they'll definitely understand.feralinfant wrote:the QE email said to get in touch after grades came back but we should wait till journal announcements are done too right?

Info on this is super hard to come by, but at H it is thought to be 4 "Hs", which is, again, thought to be top 30-40 percent.Anonymous User wrote:What is their GPA floor? Ive looked through old threads and can't find anything. Is it top 10 percent, top third, 3.5+, etc.?

I thought they whored out to anyone at YHS? At Northwestern their cut off is 3.6 which is probably about top 30 percent.
