I understand this is relatively early, but I'm starting to research firms not coming to my school's OCI so I can mass mail in July. I've read the threads and I still have not really gotten a clear answer on the following questions. Any help would be appreciated.
Background info: I grew up in NY and now go to school across the country on the west coast (in CA, WA, or OR, just for anonymity sake). No other ties to my current state besides law school and 2 summer internships there. So i'm targeting my current state and my home state. Now:
1) For firms not at my OCI - do I massmail still to multiple locations for the same firm on the west coast and NY, or will that look bad due to my locational ties situation? I know at OCI i should pick one or the other generally (don't want WC firms thinking i wanna go back home, NY firms thinking I'm just about WC since i moved out there, etc.), but I'm not sure if that matters for mass mailing since it's not like both locations are recruiting at the same OCI where it's obvious if I applied to both.
2) Again for firms not at my OCI - I know at OCI you're again supposed to really focus on just one location, but again does this matter for mass mailing different locations of a firm in the same state? One of the states I have ties to has multiple firm locations so I'm unsure about that.
3) For firms AT my OCI - do i still mass mail them? one thread said I should, the other no. I know it would get my attention for a pre-screen, but I'm afraid it may come off as me actually making a mistake about them being at my OCI.
4) If the answer to 1 or 2 is that i should mass mail multiple locations, I'm correct in assuming still that I should not say "I definitely want NY" or "I definitely want this location" at this stage since it's possible they could both be in contact and that would raise a red flag? I obviously want to play up my NY ties but I'm guessing I would need to wait until a screener/callback just in case to really hammer that point home.
Thanks!
